Faculty of Science

I am a professor in the Department of Zoology and the Department of Mathematicsat the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. I study evolutionary processes, mainly through mathematical modelling. I have been particularly interested in the evolution of diversity, in social evolution, and in the ecology and evolution of microbial communities. Current research topics include the foundations of evolutionary theory, evolution in high-dimensional phenotype spaces, multi-level selection, and cultural evolution in human societies.
