Bird Friendly Window Painting
November 9, 2023, 10:00 am to 12:00 pm
Calling all artists and conservation enthusiasts! The atrium windows of the Biodiversity Research Centre (ground floor near the kitchen) are a critical area for our feathered friends, but they need your help.
What's Happening?
The atrium windows are close to bird habitat, and to protect our avian neighbors, we've painted a stunning design on them showcasing the diverse organisms studied at the BRC. However, our paint is showing its age, and it's time for a refresh. We also want to add new species to the design to reflect our ever-expanding research.
Bring Your Artistic Talent
Join us in this creative endeavor! Whether you're a seasoned artist or just love to paint, your contribution is invaluable. We will be using oil paint pens and working outside, so wear warm clothes that you donβt mind (possibly) getting some paint on.
New Researchers, Share Your Expertise
If you're a new researcher at the BRC, we'd love to hear about the organisms you're studying. We can try to incorporate your species of choice into our design. Contact Derek Tan at derektan@mail.ubc.ca to share your thoughts by end of day on November 6.
Pizza Lunch After the Event
After our artistic adventure, enjoy a well-deserved pizza lunch with fellow conservation enthusiasts.
Let's work together to protect our winged friends and celebrate the rich tapestry of life at the BRC. See you on November 9th! π¦πΏπ
Please RSVP (derektan@mail.ubc.ca) by November 6 so we know how much food and how many supplies we should get.
