Botany Professor and BRC Member Patrick Keeling has won the 2021 Gilbert Morgan Smith Medal!
Botany Professor and BRC Member Patrick Keeling has won the 2021 Gilbert Morgan Smith Medal! This is a major award that recognizes excellence in published research on marine or freshwater algae. The award is presented every three years and consists of a gold-plated bronze medal and a $50,000 prize. The award citation is below.

Claire Kremen wins The Volvo Environment Prize
The Volvo Environment Prize is awarded for: "Outstanding innovations or scientific discoveries, which in broad terms fall within the environmental field." Since its inception in 1990 the Volvo Environment Prize has become one of the scientific world’s most respected environmental awards.

BRC members win UBC Faculty Research Awards
Patrick Keeling (Botany) is the 2019 recipient of the Jacob Biely Research Prize, UBC’s premier award for research. The prize is awarded annually to a full-time tenure-stream faculty member in recognition of a distinguished record of research.
