Title talk: Retracing the evolutionary steps towards symbiosis
Abstract:
Short biography: Joe Parker is an evolutionary biologist who has pioneered the study of rove beetles to investigate the evolution of symbiosis and species interactions. Originally from Swansea, Wales, he received a BSc from Imperial College London and a PhD from the University of Cambridge/MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology. and was a postdoctoral fellow at Columbia University. Currently, he is a Professor of Biology and Biological Engineering at the California Institute of Technology, where he is the director of Caltech’s Center for Evolutionary Science. He is also a research associate in the Division of Invertebrate Zoology at the American Museum of Natural History.
