Title: Genome and Epigenome Evolution in Model, Nonmodel, and Crop Plants
Abstract: Plant genomes and epigenomes bear the signatures of diverse evolutionary forces, including mating-system shifts, polyploidization, and domestication. Understanding the genomic and epigenomic consequences of these processes is key to linking molecular evolution with adaptation, crop improvement, and conservation. In this talk, I will discuss how polyploidy shapes gene expression patterns in bread wheat, recent theoretical and methodological advances for studying epigenome evolution, and the genetic basis and consequences of mating-system evolution.
