BRC Molecular Biology Lab Training series

Focus: BRC-specific laboratory rules, safety procedures, waste disposal, autoclave, chemical and biological hazard handling, glassware washing, shared equipment etiquette, documentation standards, and responsible conduct in the lab.
(provided twice a year May and September, useful for new under, grad students and postdocs)
Duration: 2 hours

Introductory laboratory training for undergraduate students (ideally after completion of course 0, not mandatory but strongly recommended)
Focus: lab safety, pipetting, solution preparation, DNA/RNA basics, PCR, gel electrophoresis, documentation, and good laboratory practices.
(provided twice a year May and September)
Duration: 2 days

Beginner-to-intermediate training for graduate students (undergrads could be accepted if they have already completed course 0 and I)
Focus: Pipetting refresher, nucleic acid extraction, qualitative and quantitative methods, troubleshooting, reproducibility, and research workflows.
(provided in September)
Duration: 2-3 days

Advanced training in next-generation sequencing workflows
Focus: sample QC, GBS (ddRAD) library construction, pooling, indexing, amplification, sequencing-ready preparation, and introduction to Illumina-based NGS applications and other diverse uses. Basic training on the downstream bioinformatics analyses.
